From October 2022, customers in unincorporated areas of L.A. County gets 100% renewable energy – wind, solar, geothermal – from the Clean Power Alliance (CPA). Most of the electricity is produced in California.
Since October 2022 rates went up by about 3.5%, which means about $5 per month for the average residential customer but less for those in smaller homes or apartments. Energy in Los Angeles is now 50% carbon neutral. The goal is to be 100% carbon neutral in 2050 with energy.
Electric vehicle preparations
Los Angeles is wired for electrical vehicles. At least when it comes to preparing for it. The city has installed over 16,000 commercial EV chargers.
