The Los Angeles County has formed a first ever Youth Climate Commission. The young adults should have an interest in bringing change to their communities and families. Afterall they are the generation who will be dramatically impacted by climate change over their lifetime.
The Commissions website explains why it was formed. The request was made by youth advocacy in 2019 and in 2022 The Board of Supervisors (Board) championed their cause, adopting a motion to create the YCC. On June 14, 2022.
The YCC will strengthen the County’s leadership. The YCC can be contacted at Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration. View more information at the YCC website.
The coordinator of YCC is the Chief Sustainability Office in Los Angeles.
